Summer Camp Registration is Open!

Registration for JMU Outreach & Engagement summer youth programs is open! This year, we have six learning opportunities for children in grades 1-12.  For more information and to register, please click the name of each camp.

Summer Honors Institute 

The JMU Summer Honors Institute is a unique week-long program where talented rising high school juniors and seniors get a first-hand look at life in a dynamic university and its Honors college.

June 18 - 24, 2017

Robotics Camp

This exciting camp is a challenging program designed for middle school students who want to push robots to the limits with two JMU Physics professors.

June 19 - 23, 2017

Fencing Camp

 JMU Fencing Camps provide instruction in footwork, techniques, strategies, and safety used in Olympic style fencing for rising 5th - 10th graders at the beginning through advanced level.

Beginner

July 24 - 28, 2017

Intermediate/Advanced

July 31 - August 4, 2017

Announcing the Health Science Academy June 19-23, 2017

This is our fifth year offering the highly successful academy for high school students interested in exploring the health professions. Eligible students are rising 10th or 11th graders (fall 2017) with a strong interest in pursuing a Health and Medical Sciences Career Pathway.  Selected students commit to the following schedule (attendance is mandatory all five days):

June 19              9:00 am-4:00 pm    Winchester Medical Center Career exploration/experiential learning/tour

June 19-23-        9:00 am-12:00 pm Lord Fairfax Community College-- college credit course - SDV101-                                     Introduction to Health Professions

June 20-21         1:30-3:30 pm    Shenandoah University Skills Labs Hands on skills exploration

June 22-23        12:30 -2:00 pm     Lord Fairfax Community College Skills Labs Hands on skills                                                                             exploration

June 23              2:00-3:00 pm    Lord Fairfax Community College Celebration/recognition program and                                                                wrap-up

Application Process

1. Complete the  Application

2. Bring your completed applications to your high school counselor by March 13

3. Student notification of selection announced April 11

4. COST--registrations and payment TOTAL  $195.71 ( $130. Winchester Medical Center fee and $65.71 for Lord Fairfax Community College ) due by April 30 (two separate payments)
